• Network Field Technician

Hoyos Consulting LLC is searching for a Network Field Technician to join our team, as we grow our network and consulting practice across Wisconsin and the Midwest. This position would be responsible for installation of new services for our ISP network, as well as in a network support role to support our existing footprint and customers. Attention to details is key, and this role requires dedication to our customers, and to the quality of the product. The right person here would be able to jump in and hit the ground running as a key member of our team, and helping grow our practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Test and turn-up of new business and residential ISP customers (cabling, configuration of network/wireless equipment)
• Plan/implement customer driven projects (wireless deployments, fiber construction)
• Assist with troubleshooting of customer issues
• Maintain and monitor Hoyos Consulting's network, and improve where possible
• Participate in on-call rotation

QUALIFICATION:

• 1-2+ years experience with cabling (Cat5E, fiber, etc) in residential/commercial environments
• Basic wireless and RF theory and knowledge
• Self-motivated, self-starter, able to learn on the fly
• Basic power and hand tool operation
• Strong attention to details and documentation
• Comfortable in front of a customer

NICE TO HAVE:

• Experience working in a service provider network
• Experience with optical network equipment, splicing, and fiber troubleshooting
• Juniper (JunOS, MX/ACX specific) and Cisco (IOS) experience

This position would have the opportunity to wear multiple hats within the company, handling specific engineering tasks across the ISP network, and for customer related projects. The right person here would be able to jump in and hit the ground running as a key member of our team, and helping grow our practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan/implement network growth projects (fixed wireless + fiber expansion)
• Plan/implement customer driven projects (network consulting, wireless deployments, optical networks)
• General support/escalation point for network events/issues
• Maintain and monitor Hoyos Consulting's network, and improve where possible
• Participate in on-call rotation

REQUIREMENTS:

• 3+ years experience with layer2/layer3 networking technologies/protocols
• Experience with Linux
• Self-motivated, self-starter, able to learn on the fly
• Strong attention to details and documentation
• Comfortable in front of a customer

NICE TO HAVE:

• Experience working in a service provider network
• Experience with BGP/OSPF/MPLS/MetroEthernet implementation
• Experience with optical network architecture and troubleshooting (DWDM/CWDM)
• Juniper (JunOS, MX/ACX specific), Cisco (IOS), and Fortinet experience
• Experience with fixed wireless and large-scale user facing wireless
